Kishi Bashi - “It All Began With A Burst”
I’ll admit, I was skeptical about this song and this artist as a whole when I heard it in my 3 AM stupor last night. Do I like K Ishibashi’s (noted violinist for little bands like Of Montreal and Regina Spektor, I dunno, maybe you’ve heard of them) voice and vocal style? Is this music too “busy”? But as I made my way through 151a, I found myself completely won over, and pretty quickly, I might add. It reminded me a lot of Sufjan’s The Age of Adz, if not a bit cleaner at some points. Highly recommended for anyone that’s ever wondered what it would feel like for a Technicolor marching band to parade through their ears.
